The municipality of Herent is the builder of this new sports hall, named after Olympic champion Bart Swings.
At the 2022 Winter Olympics, Swings won a gold medal in the mass start event.
This sports hall includes a gymnasium and a sports hall. Inside, it can be divided into 3 separate sections for extra flexibility.
There is also a catering area in the building.
Behind the sports hall, there is a Pumptrack track. A pumptrack is a continuous circuit with bumps and bowl curves, which rhythmically follow each other. You can think of it as a cross between a BMX track and a skate park.
In fact, this Pumptack track attracts many athletes from the Netherlands and Germany.
The facade of the building has a visible concrete plinth at the bottom.
This plinth protrudes a little in some places, so that the crown of the Isis point profile drops in a little more.
Two types of point profiles were chosen, which are placed alternately to give them their own character.
The unique gold-copper colour contrasts perfectly with the exposed concrete.
